Ann’s Choice Residents Donate $235,500 for Scholarships to Local Students

Warminster, Pa. — On Tuesday, June 7, Ann’s Choice retirement community hosted family, residents, friends and staff at their annual Scholars’ Awards Ceremony. At this year’s event, 34 graduating high school seniors and three adult employees were recognized as 2016 recipients of a $6,000 scholarship from Ann’s Choice residents.

In 11 years, close to $3 million has been raised to support 458 students to advance their collegiate careers, according to Becky Nixon, philanthropy coordinator at Ann’s Choice. The program is funded primarily through resident contributions.

Protestant Group at Ann’s Choice Donates $19,000 to Local Charities

Warminster, PA - In an effort to support the local community, the Protestant group at Ann’s Choice retirement community embodied the spirit of giving by donating $19,000 to 14 local charities and the Benevolent Care Fund at Ann’s Choice.

The Protestant community is composed of 500 Ann’s Choice residents and operated by their own Protestant Faith Council. The council runs the Protestant group with the mission of creating a better world; its approach is to start locally in Bucks County.

Warminster, Pa. - To commemorate Memorial Day the Veterans Club at Ann’s Choice Retirement Community is proudly flying 600 American flags throughout the Warminster campus.

Lining the roadways and walkways, it is difficult for any resident or visitor to pass by without feeling a great sense of patriotism while viewing the impressive display of flags. Warminster, Pennsylvania -- Roughly 8.5 percent of the population in Pennsylvania was without health insurance in 2014, according to the Census Bureau. To address the coverage gap, there are doctors attempting to make a positive difference to those without insurance. Dr. Peter Schwartz is one such doctor. He volunteers with the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership (BCHIP) to help provide health services to the uninsured.

In recognition of his services, BCHIP awarded Dr. Schwartz the “Volunteer of the Year” award. Dr. Schwartz, Associate Medical Director at Ann’s Choice Retirement Community, has volunteered with BCHIP for over ten years....

Warminster, Pennsylvania – Frank Sinatra would have turned 100 years old this Saturday, December 12. For residents of Ann’s Choice retirement community, Sinatra was one of the most influential entertainer of their generation. In celebration of his 100th birthday, residents had the opportunity to go back in time and listen to Sinatra singer, Peter Scott Ruben, perform live.

Philadelphia Eagles Football Team Honors WWII Veteran and Centenarian

WARMINSTER, PENNSYLVANIA-- Retired Lieutenant Thomas Hollis, a Philadelphia native, who just celebrated his 101 birthday, was honored on Sunday, November 15, by the Philadelphia Eagles during their home game against the Miami Dolphins. Lt. Hollis served in the Navy during World War II (WWII) on the U.S.S. Panamint in Okinawa, Japan.

WARMINSTER, PA – To help celebrate the nation’s pastime of baseball, Ann’s Choice residents will step in the batter’s box and swing away like Ryan Howard and Chase Utley and test their throwing accuracy ala Cole Hamels, at the annual Ann’s Choice Home Run Derby tomorrow, Friday, May 8th, beginning at 2 p.m. and last until approximately 3:30 p.m.

Participants will use a standard softball bat and try to hit a baseball as far as they can as men and women participate.

94-Y-O Ann's Choice Resident George "Scotty" Scott Readies for Race!

WARMINSTER, PA – George “Scotty” Scott, the famous 94-year-old, Ann’s Choice resident, who’s been tearing up the Internet and news with his Go, Scotty, Go! YouTube video parodying Rocky Balboa, did his last minute stretching and running earlier today with his friend and trainer Dave Marovich. The South Philadelphia native will be competing in tomorrow’s Masters Men’s 100-meter dash in the category of 75-Y-O and over at tomorrow’s Penn Relays .

WARMINSTER, PA – Beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 4, approximately 100-150 Ann’s Choice residents, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren are expected to hop on down the proverbial Bunny Trail throughout the community’s Keystone Clubhouse Multi-purpose Room to participate in the Second Annual Ann’s Choice Easter Egg Hunt (see photos below of Easter Egg Prep!).

Beginning around noon, older grandchildren of Ann’s Choice residents will begin hiding approximately 1,000 colorful plastic eggs filled with candies and treats around the large decorated room.

1,500 Knitted Stockings for Wounded Veterans Made by Ann's Choice Seniors to be Packed/Shipped Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014

WARMINSTER, PA – As the country prepares to acknowledge soldiers this Veterans Day, a special group of Ann’s Choice residents have been busy working for our wounded warriors who have lost limbs due to battle in conflicts in the Middle East.

The Ann’s Choice “Knit Wits” are a group of approximately 60 seniors dedicated to serving wounded troops who have dedicated so much of themselves in the face of war.

The knitters began working in January and to date, have created an amazing 1,500 handmade knitted pieces which will go to wounded soldiers at the Walter...
