WARMINSTER, PA - Ever wonder what to do with those piles of holiday cards you received over the holidays? The often times colorful and ornate designs on these wonderful well-wishes were given second life at Ann's Choice for a great cause, while helping the environment.
Over the past several weeks Ann's Choice residents and staff collected used holiday cards, and recently about 40 of these dynamic seniors sorted, cut the fronts for use and readied cards to be shipped out to the St. Jude's Ranch for Children (SEE YOUTUBE VIDEO: http://tiny.cc/x4k4qw)
The number of cards collected was astounding. More than 20,000 were collected in this extraordinary endeavor.
The recycled cards will be packaged up and resold by St. Jude's, who create new greeting cards for any occasion. Recycled cards are sold in packs of 10 for $10 to support their programs and services. The program is beneficial to everyone - Their customers receive fun, "green" holiday cards they can feel good sending to their friends and loved ones, and the children at St. Jude's Ranch receive payment for their work and learn about basic job skills and the importance of recycling.
"Many are blessed to receive holiday greetings during the season," said Chris Donati, Ann's Choice executive director. "Sharing and recycling those sentiments with others for an important cause goes a long way. I am extremely proud of the outpouring of support on behalf of the community which stepped up to help make a difference."
