Highland Springs Celebrates its 2011 Gala with a Splash of Color

DALLAS, TX---For four years, residents, staff and friends of Highland Springs have gathered in their black-tie best for the Annual Gala. 2011 was no exception as more than 275 attendees celebrated at the "Black and White Ball with a Touch of Red," the theme chosen to define this year's style. Held on September 16th, the event supported the Benevolent Care Fund of the North Dallas retirement community. "The Annual Gala has come to represent the best of Highland Springs," stated Matt Neville, Associate Executive Director.  "Not only is the generosity of our residents, staff and community partners on display, but also their creativity and enthusiasm.  The campus looked terrific in showcasing the colorful theme." Upon entering the main clubhouse of Highland Springs, guests were treated with an immediate reminder of the theme: bouquets of red roses across the room with decorative feathers. Attendees then experienced all the gala had to offer.  Chisholm's Restaurant featured dancing and live entertainment presented by resident Jack Melick and His Big Band and a specially-planned menu prepared and served by the Highland Springs Dining Department. Guests also enjoyed moonlit carriage rides throughout the 89-acre campus. Over $20,000 was raised at this year's Gala, a testament to the loyal supporters of the Benevolent Care Fund.  Attendees bid on several enticing silent auction items, including a limousine ride for ten for "Christmas Lights," and purchased tickets for two raffles, featuring electronics and leisure packages. A dedicated group of residents and staff served on the Gala Planning Committee.  That team consisted of staff members Antoine Bell, Barbara Blachly, Roben Brannon, Joyce Cates, Melissa Glidden, Matt Neville, Margery Tippen and residents Charles Alspach, Maxine Kaplan, Ann Martin, Noni Meaney and Frances Price. As with all campuses in the Erickson Living network, Highland Springs offers residents a "home for life."  The Benevolent Care Fund provides the confidential assistance that allows all residents to remain in their homes, assuring that they will receive the care they deserve.
