Erickson Living Joins National Go4Life® Campaign - Promoting Exercise and Physical Activity in Partnership with the National Institute on Aging

Greenspring to Host Go4Life Campaign Launch Event on November 9, 2011

SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA - Erickson Living, developer and manager of Greenspring, announced that it is joining the National Institute on Aging (NIA) at NIH in Go4Life, a new national exercise and physical activity campaign for people age 50+.  The goal of Go4Life is to provide resources to older adults that they can use to incorporate exercise and physical activity into their everyday lives.  This federal campaign is based on research showing that exercise and physical activity can help people stay healthy and independent, and prevent some of the chronic conditions associated with aging. "We are very excited about the Go4Life campaign and proud to join the NIA," said Dr. Matt Narrett, Chief Medical Officer, Erickson Living. "Promoting healthy aging has always been central to Erickson Living's mission so this campaign fits right in with the company's ongoing efforts to find creative opportunities to help seniors lead a healthier, happier, more vibrant retirement."  Erickson Living's Go4Life® campaign partnership includes hosting the nation's first Go4Life® fitness event at the Greenspring retirement community in Northern Virginia.  On November 9, in the Hunters Crossing Conference Center at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, residents and staff will meet with Go4Life® campaign representatives and be provided Go4Life® exercise and physical activity information.  In addition, this unique health education and outreach program will include the participation of residents in tai-chi, zumba, low-impact aerobics, yoga, and chair-fit. "Greenspring is a vibrant community where residents enjoy staying active and fit," noted Brad Hibbs, Greenspring Wellness Manager.  "This campaign fits perfectly with the existing campus wellness program which enables people to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle." Another aspect of this campaign outreach is NIA's distribution of freeGo4Life® print materials on exercise and physical activity to the other 15 Erickson Living's campuses throughout the country.   "Erickson Living is in a class by itself and its Go4Life® campaign partnership reflects the company's ongoing commitment to opening up new opportunities for seniors to add more living to their lives," said Dan Dunne, Erickson Living's Director of Communications.
