(SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA) - Kid Pan Alley's intergenerational residency entitled "Across the Ages" will feature students from Forestdale Elementary School and seniors from Greenspringretirement community.  The two groups will collaborate leading up to two November 4 performances, where stories told by both the students and the seniors will be translated into song for the public. WHEN:      Friday, November 4, 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm WHERE:   Forestdale Elementary School 6530 Elder Avenue Springfield, Virginia 22150 Kid Pan Alley Founder, Paul Reisler, and Kid Pan Alley Project Director, Paddy Dougherty, will work alongside the students and seniors as they both share stories and experiences about what its like to grow up today and yesteryear. When Reisler first wrote songs with 600 children in Rappahannock County, Virginia, the resulting 50 original pieces were so inspiring that Reisler asked the area's professional musicians to record one of the songs in their own style.  The result was a CD entitled "Tidal Wave of Song," and served as the inspiration for Kid Pan Alley. Since then, Kid Pan Alley has inspired the creation of 1,800 original songs with 30,000 children nationwide. Two additional CDs have been recorded featuring artists such as Amy Grant, Delbert McClinton, and Sissy Spacek.  These CDs have earned a Grammy nomination, a Washington Area Music Association WAMMIE, Parents' Choice Gold and Silver awards, and several other honors. This residency at Forestdale Elementary is presented with the generous support of the Forestdale Elementary School and their PTA, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the Springfield Forest Citizens' Association.
