Riderwood Executive Chef Victor Cirrincione Gives Cooking Demo for Jambalaya Vegetable Soup in Olney, MD

SILVER SPRING, MD (October 11, 2011) - Riderwood retirement community Executive Chef Victor Cirrincione this week held a free cooking demon for more than 100 people at the Olney Farmers and Artists Market. Chef Victor cooked Jambalaya Vegetable soup. His demo followed the Riderwood Dining Service team's attainment of the prestigious Judge's Choice Award  for Vegetable Crab Soup in this year's Crab Soup Cook-Off held at the Maryland Seafood Festival. This marked the third successive year that Riderwood earned a top prize in the contest. Chef Victor told he Olney Farmers and Artists Market attendees it is his belief that passion and integrity are the keys to a successful chef. "A chef that can stand by his product, admit his faults, be humble to his successes, and recognize those who help him to be successful can only achieve success," he said. He thanked his chefs -- Marta Munoz, Carlos Gauna, Chad Wisner, William Wanzer and Elliot Satin -- for  making Riderwood a place of culinary excellence. "Their passion, dedication and integrity make Riderwood a great place to work, live and play. We at Riderwood are truly blessed to have so many wonderful and talented chefs." After training at Adirondack Community College, Chef Victor enjoyed a successful career at many popular dining venues, including the Sagamore Hotel and Resort in New York, the Equinox Hotel in Vermont, the Boar's Head Inn, Kingsmill Resort,  and The Inn at Little Washington all in Virginia. He has been with Riderwood for eight years, starting as Chef de Cuisine. Chef Victor this year received his Executive Chef certification from the American Culinary Federation. The Dining Services team at Riderwood is composed of 600 employees who, under the direction of Magdy Mishraky, comprise an operation of 18 on-campus restaurants featuring a wide variety of dining experiences from formal to casual for residents.  The Dining Services team also includes a catering group that creates menus and prepares appetizers, meals and deserts for special events such as wedding receptions and private parties.
