Golfers from Highland Springs Make Birdies for Student Scholarship Fund

Annual spring tournament held at Sherrill Park

DALLAS, TX---The Dallas-area PGA Tour stop, the HP Byron Nelson Classic, might not be until May, but golf was on the minds of residents, employees and friends of Highland Springs. The Erickson Living retirement community held its annual spring golf tournament on March 28th at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson.  A luncheon at Highland Springs followed the competition. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Highland Springs Student Scholarship Fund.  Ninety-five Dallas-area students are employed at the two restaurants on campus.  Each year, the community awards collegiate scholarships to students who meet workplace, leadership and academic criteria. The nine-hole event was won by the team of Highland Springs Executive Chef Jason Foss and guests George McClure and Gary Bones. Other prize winners included Terri Nance (Home Support Clinical Manager at Highland Springs) for longest drive and Gary Bones for closest-to-the-pin. "Many thanks are extended to our friends at Sherrill Park Golf Course for their hospitality," stated Matt Neville, Associate Executive Director and tournament participant.  "It was a fun day of friendly competition between residents, employees and guests, and supporting our student scholar fund made the day extra special." Highland Springs will announce its Student Scholar Class of 2012 at a ceremony scheduled for June 9th.
