Each year during the past five years CMS deemed Renaissance Gardens to be exceptional in areas of health inspections, nurse staffing, and measures of medical-care quality. Renaissance Gardens excelled in the following areas:
  • Acquired infections: 1/3 national average
  • Acquired wounds: 40% lower than national average
  • Falls: 30% lower than national average
  • Unplanned transfers to hospital: 35% lower than national average.
CMS began rating the nation's 15,000+ nursing homes in December 2008. The goal was to create a standard for the evaluation of Nursing Homes. CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers to help simplify, organize and compare nursing care providers. With a quality rating system that gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars.  Nursing homes with 5 stars are considered to have much above average quality and nursing homes with 1 star are considered to have quality much below average. U.S. News ranked Renaissance Gardens one of the Best Nursing Homes in the United States for 2012.  The U.S. News ranking is built on data from Nursing Home Compare, a consumer web site run by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CMS sets and enforces standards for all nursing homes enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid.
