Renaissance Gardens Extended Care at Riderwood Celebrates a Decade of Service in Silver Spring, MD

SILVER SPRING, MD (October 24, 2012) - Renaissance Gardens, the extended care neighborhood at Riderwood retirement community, this month is celebrating its 10th year of providing comprehensive health care in Silver Spring, MD. Renaissance Gardens today has 117 Skilled Nursing Beds, all private rooms. It offers short term rehab as well as long term care . In addition, Renaissance Gardens has 207 Assisted Living Apartments (studios, one bedroom models, and two bedroom models), as well as Specialized Memory Care Units. Nearly 400 employees work at Renaissance Gardens. Renaissance Gardens is celebrating its 10th anniversary by having attained stellar results during the past decade. A brief recap follows:  Renaissance Gardens in 2012 was recognized by US News and World Report as being one of the best nursing homes in the country.  In the last SNF Survey (2011) Renaissance Gardens received 0 deficiencies.  Renaissance Gardens' annual deficiency average in the past 5 years was just 2.6. By comparison, Maryland Nursing Homes average 12 deficiencies per year.  Renaissance Gardens received the federal government's highest rating of 5 Stars for health care excellence for five successive years from 2008 - 2012.  Riderwood was awarded the Excellence in Health Care Quality Award by Erickson Living this year..  Employee Retention at Renaissance Gardens for 2011was 87% (By comparison the industry average is just 68%). A History of Growth:  Renaissance Gardens opened its doors on October 19, 2002 . When the it opened it had one building, Rose Court, that had three floors of assisted living with 80 apartments with a mix of Studio's, Studio Deluxe, and One Bedrooms. There were also two floors of nursing with 86 rooms. At the end of 2002 Renaissance Gardens had 32 residents in Assisted Living and 19 residents in nursing care. In 2006 Renaissance Gardens opened Evergreen Terrace, another assisted living building with two floors and 64 apartments. In 2007 Renaissance Gardens opened Oak Grove Way with 132 private rooms. In 2008 Renaissance Gardens offered its first 2-bedroom apartments. In 2010 Renaissance Gardens converted 15 long-term care beds in Oak Grove Way into 7 additional assisted living apartments that gave provided 4 patio units.
