Ann's Choice Residents Fold, Twist and Tape to See Who Has the Fastest Fingers in the Community

WARMINSTER, PA - Scotch tape was plentiful, rolls of wrapping paper abundant and fingers feverish as residents participated in the Third Annual Ann's Choice Holiday Gift Wrapping Event, Fastest Fingers and Most Beautifully Decorated Present Extravaganza at Ann's Choice earlier this afternoon. Reigning champion Nancy "Fast Fingers" Bowers, who was victorious in the first two competitions, wrapped up (no pun intended) her third title, beating out four other competitors with a total of seven gifts in five minutes!

Mrs. Bowers said that she does not practice, but simply replicates her strategy. "I worked my fingers fast just like I did the last two years, I kept my mind on the presents which were in front of me and wrapped as fast as I could.  I think the competition is a wonderful event and it is for a very worthwhile cause." The other competitors who tied for second were Elaine Craft and Pene Riggs. The other two ladies who rounded out the field were Laura Rothkopf and Maureen Guim. In a second competition, the most Beautifully Decorated Gift Wrapping contest, the three competitors were Elise Bratis, Tom Feeney and Rose Torgerson- who had loads of colorful wrapping paper, bows, ribbons and unique holiday themed decorations to help them create the most beautiful looking gift box. After five minutes of exquisite design work, Elise Bratis was judged the winner for her beautifully decorated present. Next, more than 500 presents, which were donated by the public to the YWCA of Bucks County, The Breathing Room Foundation and Child, Home and Community, were wrapped by residents on hand at the holiday party.  These gifts were collected by the agencies and will be distributed to children just in time for the holidays. For four years Ann's Choice residents have wrapped presents for the YWCA of Bucks County during the holiday season. Three years ago the fast, furious, finger frolic began as a way to raise awareness to the importance of gift giving for children in need of presents throughout Bucks County, and to have a little fun in doing so. "The Ann's Choice Holiday Gift Wrapping Event serves to highlight one of the many exciting happenings at our community," said Chris Donati, Ann's Choice executive director.  "The most important part of this contest is that everyone taking part are winners - those wrapping for a great cause, the YWCA of Bucks County, The Breathing Room Foundation, Child, Home and Community and most of all the children receiving the presents." "At Ann's Choice we have a mission to serve not only our residents, but to share our gifts with those within the community outside of Ann's Choice," said Susan Abtouche, Ann's Choice philanthropy director. "The annual gift wrapping event is our way of reaching out to help underserved children at a time that many people take for granted - when people enjoy family and friends during the holiday season.  Our residents look forward to being part of a network of helping the children." Breathing Room Foundation Director Mary Ellen Fitzgerald said, "We at the Breathing Room Foundation are thrilled to be partnering with Ann's Choice in a collaborative effort to spread the holiday spirit to 130 families who are struggling with the challenges of cancer. We can only accomplish this mission with the help of an army of volunteers and we look forward to working with the residents of Ann's Choice." "Child, Home and Community is very grateful that the resident volunteers of Ann's Choice will be wrapping children's books that we will be distributing to our teen parents and their children at the annual holiday party," said Kathleen Dwyer, Child, Home and Community program director.  "As a non-profit agency, we rely greatly on the kindness and generosity of others. Thank you, residents of Ann's Choice."
