Meeting Senior Living Demand in Dallas, Highland Springs Unveils Continuing Care Neighborhood

DALLAS, TX---Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community in North Dallas, opened its state-of-the-art continuing care neighborhood, fulfilling its commitment to residents and their families. Held on March 27th in the courtyard of the new neighborhood, the ribbon-cutting ceremony included residents, company leaders, elected officials, business leaders and health care professionals from the Dallas area. Meeting the demand for senior living in the Dallas region, the continuing care neighborhood features 108 residences, offering assisted living, memory care, post-acute rehabilitation and nursing care services.  Spacious common areas, in-room dining options, screened-in porches and gardens are among the amenities that contribute to a patient-centered, holistic approach to health and wellness. The new neighborhood incorporates the integrated health care model developed by Erickson Health.  Across the national Erickson enterprise, full-time physicians, electronic medical records and training for all employees serving residents in continuing care neighborhoods have resulted in geriatric health care metrics that exceed national averages. For Chris Emmett, Executive Director of Highland Springs, the ribbon-cutting is as much a celebration of the culture of the new neighborhood as it is about the beautiful physical infrastructure.  "This is an exciting day as we are fulfilling our promise made to residents and their families to provide a full spectrum of services at Highland Springs," noted Mr. Emmett. "By establishing a warm and positive culture, we are confident that our core values will be reflected in a dynamic resident experience each and every day.  For our new residents, this neighborhood is their home.  The care that will be offered is about the person, a holistic approach that our entire team is vested in and proud to offer," stated Mr. Emmett.   The project is a major job creator in the Dallas region as 92 employees will be hired to serve residents and guests.  The positions range from health care professionals (registered nurses and certified nurse's aides) to concierge, programming, maintenance and food service employees. REES Associates is the project architect, and the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (office in Plano) serves as the general contractor. Boone Powell, former president and chief executive officer of Baylor Health Care Systems & former chairman for the Health Industry Council in Dallas, served as the keynote speaker for the event.  He is a member of the Board of Directors for Highland Springs. Jon Gilloon and Maximilian Monico represented the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce with a presentation. The 89-acre campus of Highland Springs is located on 8000 Frankford Road, Dallas, TX 75252.  In its independent living neighborhood, the community features 436 residences in a variety of floor plans and pricing options.
