New Continuing Care Neighborhood Takes Shape at at Tallgrass Creek

OVERLAND PARK, KS (August 7, 2013) -- The new continuing care neighborhood at Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS., has walls up, roof on, windows in, and utilities and HVAC now being installed. Designers have carefully chosen wall colors, carpets, and other cosmetic details, and interviewing for the center's key staff positions continues throughout the summer. Dan Stapf, Tallgrass Creek's senior facilities manager, reports that phase one of the neighborhood, the commons area and assisted living apartments, will open as planned at the end of this year. Phase two, the skilled nursing and memory care areas, are also scheduled to open as planned in spring of 2014. Construction of the neighborhood started in January followed by an official groundbreaking ceremony in March. When completed, Tallgrass Creek's new continuing care neighborhood will include 28 assisted living apartments, 28 memory care apartments, and 44 skilled nursing residences. It will add 70 health care positions and generate more than$1 million in annual economic impact to Johnson County and Overland Park. Tallgrass Creek, which has more than 300 residents,  is developed and managed by Erickson Living.
