Highland Springs Dances Night Away at 2013 Celebration Ball

DALLAS, TX---Friday, September 20th was a milestone day at Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community, in North Dallas.  During the day, residents and employees commemorated the seventh anniversary of the campus. And in the evening, Highland Springs hosted "The Celebration Ball," the theme for the annual gala benefitting the community's Resident Care Fund. More than 300 attendees dined on a specially planned menu served by the Highland Springs culinary team and then danced the night away to the music of Jack Melick and His Big Band. A resident of Highland Springs, Mr. Melick is a founding member of the Big Band Academy of America.  His musical career has taken him on a journey with legendary names in Hollywood entertainment, playing for the likes of Betty Grable, Mickey Rooney and Sammy Davis, Jr. In between sets, guests bid on 78 items at the silent auction and had their photos taken, creating instant memories of the celebration. Barbara Blachly, Community Resources Manager and Gala Chairperson, announced that over $46,000 had been raised as a result of the black-tie event.
