Fox Run Volunteer Makes, Gives Models to Honor Military Veterans

NOVI, MI (February 6, 2014) - Sean Tracy, a volunteer at Fox Run retirement community, is honoring veterans in a unique way: by building and giving models to veterans of the airplanes, tanks or ships for which they were associated during their military service. He has been working on the Veterans Model Project for the past four years and has already built more than 150 models. He wants to build and give a free model to every veteran who wants one. He has spent more than $6,500 of his own money to-date on paints and supplies. Tracy has built models - each with an average cost of $50 -- for every branch of the military. He needs donations to keep the project going. His first model was an airplane that was given to former weatherman Sonny Elliott. Tracy's inspiration for the project came from his grandfather who served in WWII and his father who served in the Korean War. "I have two other model builders who help, but with the funds now dried up, I fear the project will die," said Tracy, 53, an aspiring nurse who recently graduated from an American Red Cross Certified Nurse Assistant Class.
