Seabrook to Host Alzheimer's Educational Seminar April 29

TINTON FALLS, NJ - In its continuing effort to provide education and information to the public about important issues concerning older adults, Seabrook will hold a special seminar to discuss the topic of Alzheimer's Disease. "After They Forget: The Thriving Spirit of Alzheimer's" will be offered by the Seabrook Pastoral Ministries Department on Tuesday, April 29, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the community's Town Square Atrium.

Dr. Kathleen Rusnak, Ph.D. will be the presenter and explore whether a person with advanced Alzheimer's has lost the essence of who they are. She will further provide attendees with a glimpse into a world where an enhanced respect for the cognitively impaired can result in a mutuality and wholeness between caregiver and patient neither would have experienced. Dr. Rusnak is a Lutheran pastor with a doctorate in Psychology and Religion. She has been a pastor, a hospice chaplain for two facilities and has served as the director of spiritual care and bereavement at The Connecticut Hospice. She is also the author of two books, Caring for the Caregiver: A Spiritual Approach for the Professional, Because You've Never Died Before: Spiritual Issues at the End of Life, and is a nationally recognized expert on Alzheimer's and end of life issues. The cost for this important educational program is $25. Nurses are eligible to receive three continuing education unit credits for attendance. Seating is limited so those interested are urged to register today.
