TAKING THE FIGHT TO END ALZHEIMER'S TO THE POOL

CHARLESTOWN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY TO HOST SWIM-A-THON FOR ALZHEIMER'S CARE AND RESEARCH

CATONSVILLE, MD - On Friday, August 15th at 12:30 pm, Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, Maryland, will host "Laps for Memory Fitness," a swim-a-thon raising proceeds for the Alzheimer's Association and Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund.  The event is open to the public and people can register at http://lapsformemoryfitness.weebly.com/, or by calling Jessie Krebs at (410) 371-0397. The event will highlight the Memory Fitness component of Charlestown's Memory Support Program, which aims to strengthen one's memory through physical fitness as well as stress reduction and brain healthy eating habits.  Charlestown is partnering with the Greater Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association to host the event. A special opening ceremony will feature the Orioles and Ravens mascots who will "swim" the honorary first lap in whitewater rafts across the pool.  Surely, this will provide a fantastic photo opportunity!  There will also be a guest appearance by Debbie Phelps, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps' mother and director of the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools.  Charlestown residents as well as members of the Catonsville community will take to the water following the mascots' swim.
