Lloyd Lillie Has Been Sculpting for 60 Years and Has No Plans to Stop Anytime Soon!

Hingham, MA –  Lloyd Lillie is a well-known sculptor and teacher of art who now lives at Linden Ponds in Hingham.

His work, including life size sculptures of John Quincy Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Former Mayor James Michael Curley, and many others can be found in locations such as the Boston Public Library, two American embassies, and in many Colleges and Universities.

This month, Linden Ponds has chosen Lillie as Artist of the Month and his work will be on display for residents only.

“Growing up with my grandparents, they had me drawing by the age of 5,” said Lillie.  “As I grew up, I was encouraged to do more with art by my teachers and eventually got my first job as a sculptor at age 20.  I still love sculpting to this very day.”

Currently he is working on a life size bronze statue of a Philanthropist in Turkey.  In 2000 he made a life statue of this man’s father.  When complete, he will mail to Turkey.

Lillie served on the Boston University faculty for thirty-four years and was Professor of Art for twenty-one of them. His own education in art was in such notable schools as the Corcoran in Washington, D.C. and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy.
