Residents of Devonshire at PGA National Showcase “Spooktacular” Costumes for Annual Halloween Party

(Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) – On Saturday, October 25, over 80 residents of Devonshire at PGA National joined together for the community’s annual Halloween celebration.  The event featured a full four-course dinner complete with seasonal specials like squash soup and pumpkin cheesecake, live music and dancing, as well as a costume contest.

This year, residents truly went above and beyond when planning for their costumes.  Some of the entries included a pirate, a witch, a flapper, and a pair of clowns!  Resident Ronnie Yudell even sported a Cleopatra costume worn by a friend who once portrayed the Egyptian ruler in a professional play.  At the end of the evening, resident Rosemary Kip was awarded the top prize for her homemade “raining cats and dogs” costume complete with a rain slicker and an umbrella affixed with stuffed cats and dogs!

“This is a very popular event at Devonshire,” said Irene Malanga, Director of Activities.  “It’s always full of fun, entertainment, and true Halloween spirit.  The residents enjoy planning for their costumes and seeing what their neighbors and friends at the community have dreamed up year after year.”  Malanga and activities colleague, Gil George, were not void of Halloween spirit themselves; they donned matching penguin costumes for the party and in years past, have even shown up as tutu-clad ballerinas!
