Catholic Community Volunteers of Oak Crest Celebrate a Year of Service

PARKVILLE, MD—“There are different kind of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service, but the same Lord.”  --I Corinthians 12:4.

The essence of that New Testament passage was celebrated by the Catholic Community Volunteers of Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, on December 10th.

Over two hundred volunteers gathered in Erickson Hall for fellowship, delicious food and musical entertainment to commemorate a year of giving.

The residents crisscross the 87-acre campus of Oak Crest, supporting thirty-seven ministries on behalf of the nearly nine hundred members of the Catholic Faith Community.  Those roles include Eucharistic Ministers, musicians, choir members, altar servers, prayer service leaders office helpers and more.

“The development in 1995 of the Oak Crest Catholic Community Volunteers transformed the spiritual faith life of the Catholic Community,” stated Sister Danielle Murphy, Pastoral Associate at Oak Crest.  “We are so proud of these residents because they are selfless in sharing their gifts, talents and time with others.”

Catholic Mass is celebrated six days a week at Oak Crest, and a robust complement of Catholic ministries are performed on a daily basis for residents and family members.
