Sam Rentsch rides in his Model A in the 2015 National Cherry Blossom Parade.(Ashburn, Va.) - Ashby Ponds residents Sam and Robin Rentsch are proud owners of a 1930 blue Model A Ford phaeton.   As part of the George Washington Chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America (GWC MAFCA), Sam rode along in his Model A during the 2015 National Cherry Blossom Parade held in Washington, D.C. on April 11. His vehicle was one of eight Model As driven along the parade route by the Club.

Seventy years ago, Sam found a Model A abandoned on the street while he was living in Troy, N.Y.  The vehicle had a number of parking tickets adorning it, so Sam went to the local police station to inquire about the vehicle's status.  There, he was told that if he paid $47 toward the vehicle’s outstanding parking tickets, he could have the car.  Over the years, Sam has put great effort into restoring the Model A and is still the proud owner today.

According to the GWC MAFCA, of the five million Model As built between 1928 and 1931, an estimated 100,000+ still travel the world.
