Oak Crest Awards Collegiate Scholarships to 38 Employees

Parkville, MD—Oak Crest announced the thirty-eight member Class of 2015 Student Scholars at its 19th Annual Award Ceremony on April 22.
The recipients earned four-year collegiate scholarships in the amount of $5,000, a twenty-five percent increase over last year.
The program, funded mainly by resident contributions, raised nearly $143,000 in its spring campaign, according to Todd Sullivan, Director of Philanthropy for the Erickson Living retirement community.
In the previous eighteen years, the Oak Crest Scholars Program has raised over $2.36 million, assisting 671 students to advance their collegiate careers.
During the ceremony, Dominique Mayer, a scholarship recipient in 2008 and graduate of Coppin State University, provided appreciation remarks, and Ms. Anne Brownson spoke on behalf of the Resident Advisory Council.
To be eligible for a scholarship, the students employed in the Dining Services Department must work a minimum of 1,000 hours between their junior and senior years of high school, build positive relationships with residents and maintain a strong work record while employed at Oak Crest.
