Antiques Show at Brooksby Village celebrates 25th Episode!

Peabody, MA – Marie Wakefield, Brooksby Village resident, has always enjoyed watching Antiques Roadshow on television.  As a host at Brooksby Village’s own TV station she thought there would be potential in having a similar show.

Now 4 years and 24 shows later, they are celebrating their 25th show!

“We have over 1700 people who live here at Brooksby Village and I always thought people must have interesting things here they would want to share,” said Wakefield.  “I reached out to Henry Jensen, an antiques dealer, and he from the very beginning has always come on with me to talk about the value of each piece.”

Thus far, Jensen has valued items at anywhere from $85, for an orange juice squeezer, to $12,000, for a painting by a Rockport, MA artist.

Shows are filmed in the TV studio and for bigger items they will film in the residents home.

“I think the show has been a success because the residents truly enjoy the suspense of a potentially valuable item and/or the fascinating story behind the item,” said Wakefield.  “It has been a fun ride and always look forward to what we will appraise next.”

Brooksby Village is one of 18 continuing care retirement communities developed and managed by Erickson Living.  The scenic 90 acre campus is located in Peabody, MA and is home to more than 1700 residents.
