Come to 1,000-Flag Charlestown Field of Honor on Memorial Day Weekend

WHAT:

A Charlestown Field of Honor May 22-26 Memorial Day weekend display of 1,000 full-size American flags to honor veterans. Hubbard Funeral Home is presenting the Charlestown Field of Honor.

This event benefits Operation Second Chance, a Maryland-based charity that helps care for wounded warriors and their families, and Charlestown's Benevolent Care Fund.

This display of 1,000 American flags pays tribute to the hundreds of thousands of past and present American veterans who have served their country and to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Opening Ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m., at Charlestown retirement community, 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD.

A 5K Run and Fireworks will precede the Opening ceremonies on Friday night, May 22, beginning at 7 p.m.

With the help area business sponsors and more than 100 volunteers, each American flag will be flown atop 8-foot poles inside the 110-acre Charlestown campus.

The Charlestown Field of Honor is open to the public.
