Oak Crest Goes Country at 20th Anniversary Event

Parkville, MD—They danced to country music, judged the best homemade pie and admired sparkling classic cars under a sun-splashed sky.
It was all part of a country fair hosted by Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, as part of its year-long 20th anniversary commemoration.  Hundreds of residents, employees and family members attended the May 20th event held on the 87-acre campus in Parkville.
“The country fair was a fitting way to celebrate the bond between residents and employees that has been the hallmark of Oak Crest for more than twenty years,” stated Gary Hibbs, Executive Director.  “We were blessed with beautiful weather and the talent of so many people who worked hard to make the day fun for everyone.”
Dean Crawford & the Dunn’s River Band entertained the audience with a mix of country music selections.  Remember When supplied a classic Good Humor truck for ice cream treats, and O-Go Sales provided carnival games.  The Oak Crest Catering Team served classic country fare, including Italian sausage & grilled chicken.
Local dignitaries participated in the opening ceremony, presenting proclamations to the community.  They included State Senator Kathy Klausmeier, Delegate Eric Bromwell, Delegate John Cluster, Delegate Christian Miele, Baltimore County Councilman David Marks and Mr. Larry Simmons, Special Assistant for Community Outreach, representing Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.
Jamie Costello, lead anchor and reporter with ABC 2 News, provided opening remarks.
The event was chaired by Nicole Rader, a programming manager at Oak Crest, under the guidance of the community’s 20th anniversary committee, led by Nadine Wellington, community resources manager.
