Joseph Peacock Wins Charlestown's Field of Honor 5K Race With a Time of 19:18

CATONSVILLE, MD (May 31, 2015) -- Joseph Peacock won the inaugural Charlestown retirement community Field of Honor 5K run with a time of 19:18. He is the grandson of Charlestown resident Pat McDonough.

Charlestown residents 68-year-old Sarah Nixon and 75-year-old John Strumsky were winners in their age group.

The May 22 evening event, which was held under the auspices of Race IT, attracted nearly 100 runners.

The hilly and partially-covered gravel course took runners twice around the loop road on Charlestown’s 110-acre campus. It also took them next to the 1,000-flag Memorial Day weekend Field of Honor presented by Hubbard Funeral Home.

All proceeds from the 5K and the Field of Honor benefited Operation Second Chance for Veterans and Charlestown’s Benevolent Care Fund.

A fireworks display followed the 5K.
