Skinks, Parrots, Frogs, and Chinchillas -- Oh My!

OVERLAND PARK, KS (January 25, 2016) -- Tallgrass Creek residents met a skink, a parrot, a frog, and a chinchilla this month when the Kansas City Zoo brought its ZooMobile to the retirement community.

Zoo educators, animal ambassadors, and touchable bio facts visited Tallgrass Creek in an effort to create a connection between residents and wildlife. With a focus on conservation, this visit helped residents to:

• Gain a renewed interest in wildlife and conservation issues.

• Name one thing they can personally do to aid in conservation.

• Explore new information about animals and the Kansas City Zoo.

"The zoo is something that reminds most of us of our childhood.," said Jennifer Gray, Community Resources Lead Coordinator. "The winter months are cold and not a lot of people can get out, or want to get out.  So why not bring the animals here?"

Bringing the zoo to Tallgrass Creek, according to Gray, was  a wonderful opportunity to "get up close and personal with animals which we all love."
