Meet Our Leadership Team

Meet the team that keeps Ashby Ponds running smoothly.

Craig Karczmer, Executive Director

Prior to joining the Ashby Ponds team, Craig served as associate executive director of Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. He began his career in the senior living industry in 1997 as part of a team tasked with opening five assisted living and memory care assisted living communities in New Jersey for Manor Care, Inc. He was also responsible for the ground floor development of Victoria Mews Assisted Living in Boonton Township, New Jersey.

At Northern Services Group in Rockland County, New York, Craig introduced the Ritz Carlton principles of hospitality across the health system, creating a training program that touched nearly 1,000 employees. Craig then became the executive director for Crane’s Mill in West Caldwell, New Jersey. Later, Craig relocated to Bethesda, Maryland, where he was the general manager for the Fox Hill Residences and Sunrise Assisted Living at Fox Hill.

Craig received his bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and his master of public health care administration from Long Island University.

Tom Channon, Associate Executive Director

Tom has been with Ashby Ponds since the community opened in 2008. Before joining the Ashby Ponds team, Tom spent ten years at Greenspring in Springfield, Virginia, as the senior facilities manager. Prior to Erickson Living, Tom worked for ten years with Wachovia Bank as a district project manager, regional maintenance manager, and construction project manager. He received a B.S. from Virginia Tech, is an IFMA certified facilities manager, and holds numerous industry licensures and certifications.

Christopher Rupp, Director of Finance

Chris joined the Ashby Ponds team as the assistant director of finance in November 2016 and was promoted to the director of finance position in May 2017. Prior to Erickson Living, Chris spent over 20 years in financial and operational leadership roles in the home building industry. Chris earned his bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio and an M.B.A. from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.

Holly Henderson, Director of Sales and Marketing

Prior to joining Ashby Ponds, Holly served as the health care sales manager at Greenspring, in Springfield, Virginia, for seven years. Before joining Erickson Living, Holly served as the health care administrator at The Fairfax in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, from 2001 to 2004. Holly has also held health care positions with Medical Facilities of America and Genesis Eldercare Network. She received her B.S. in health care administration from James Madison University and also holds a Virginia state nursing home administrator and preceptor license. 

Michael Wehrle, Director of Continuing Care

Michael joined Erickson Living in 2011 as an intern and became a permanent member of the continuing care sales team at Riderwood upon completion of his bachelor of science degree in health care management. After earning his Nursing Home Administrator license, Michael held assistant administrator positions at several Erickson Living communities before his promotion to director of continuing care at Ashby Ponds. He also holds a master’s degree in health care administration from University of Maryland University College in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Dr. Thomas Morris, Medical Director

Dr. Morris studied pre-med at St. Xavier College in Chicago, Illinois. He then went on to obtain a degree in chiropractic medicine from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and a degree in osteopathic medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He is board- certified in family practice.

John Porter, Director of Dining

John has over two decades of experience managing high volume concept dining establishments, including five years with a national restaurant chain. Before joining the Ashby Ponds team, John worked at Erickson Living's Riderwood community where he first served as assistant general manager, before being promoted to general manager and then assistant director of dining services.

Bobby Williams, Director of General Services

Bobby joined Erickson Living in May of 2017. Prior to joining Ashby Ponds, Bobby served as the vice president of planning and development for Metropolitan Healthcare Services, a company providing support services to 65 hospitals in 10 states. His background includes over 25 years’ experience in parking and transportation, maintenance, and loss prevention management. Bobby holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and began his career as a police officer in Northern Virginia.

Daniela Gleason, Director of Human Resources

Daniela is an accomplished HR leader with 19 years of experience in all aspects of HR management. Most recently, Daniela served as the vice president of corporate HR for a company in Chantilly, Virginia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Mason University and is certified through the Society of Human Resources Management as a senior human resources professional (S.H.R.M.-S.C.P.), and through the Human Resource Certification Institute as a senior human resource professional (S.P.H.R.).
