Ashby Ponds Holds Annual Blessing of the Animals

In recognition of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4), Ashby Ponds held its annual "Blessing of the Animals" for resident pets on Wednesday, October 9.  Reverend Matt Sergent of Galilee United Methodist in Sterling presided over the ceremony where he blessed more than a dozen dogs who live at Ashby Ponds.  Almost 100 cats and dogs, and even some turtles, now reside among the more than 725 residents at Ashby Ponds. Ashby Ponds Kicks Off Third Year of Adopt-a-Grandparent Program at Farmwell Station Middle School

(Ashburn, Va.) - On September 18, more than a dozen residents at Ashby Ponds spent the afternoon with twenty middle school students from Farmwell Station Middle School.  The Adopt-a-Grandparent partnership between the school and Ashby Ponds is now in its third year of creating intergenerational memories.  All of the student participants are in grades 6-8, and are members of the school's Leos, Nanas, and Papas Club, a program designed to provide opportunities for students to contribute to and be responsible members of the greater community.  The Adopt-a-Grandparent group meets once per month during the school year at the Farmwell Station...

(Ashburn, Va.) - Residents at Ashby Ponds recently participated in the community's 5 th annual Summer Olympics.  For a full week, residents participated in a variety of indoor and outdoor events resulting in the presentation of gold, silver, and bronze medals.  This year, 150 residents competed in the Summer Olympics, making for the largest participation rate in the community's five-year history.

Loudoun County Students Receive Scholarships from Ashby Ponds Retirement Community

(Ashburn, Va.) - On Saturday, July 13, seven recent high school graduates from Loudoun County were honored with scholarships toward higher education from Ashby Ponds retirement community.  The recipients, who work for the community's dining services department, will receive up to $4000 (or up to $500 per semester) in scholarships paid directly to the college or trade school of the student's choice.
