The Ashby Ponds priority list offers the hottest ticket in town, a future home at the sought-after Erickson Living community in Ashburn, Va. And membership certainly has its privileges, including invitations to parties, tours, and social events designed specifically for the community's future residents.

"We plan each event with our priority list members' tastes and preferences in mind," says Ashby Ponds Director of Sales Holly Henderson. "These events are wonderful opportunities for our future community members to meet and form friendships with the people who will some day be their neighbors."

This year, Ashby Ponds has planned a variety of destination events to celebrate priority list members' birthdays. Recently, members with birthdays between January and April enjoyed the opportunity to travel to Quattro Goomba's Winery in nearby Aldie for a private wine tasting and catered luncheon.

A taste of Loudoun County

A true Virginia vineyard, Quattro Goomba, (Italian for "four close friends") produces a wide variety of Mediterranean-style wines using Old World methods passed on over many generations. Its location at the heart of Loudoun County's wine region makes it a top destination for local wine connoisseurs.

"We feel the trips to Quattro Goomba's Winery offer our priority list members the opportunity to experience the best in local wine while enjoying time with each other in one of the area's most breathtaking venues," says Henderson.

At the most recent priority list member birthday celebration, guests enjoyed a full wine tasting offered alongside a variety of tasting appetizers, including hummus, baba ghanoush, marinated vegetables, and olives.

Following the tasting, the birthday honorees delved into a luncheon feast featuring an arugula salad with sundried tomatoes, shaved Parmesan cheese, and a lemon vinaigrette dressing followed by assorted sandwiches and wraps—a fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato, and basil pesto baguette; a roast beef and horseradish cream sandwich; sweet potato biscuits with ham, brie, and mango chutney; and a chicken salad and mango wrap.

Lemon pudding pound cake with berries, lemon bars, cookies, and brownies topped off the meal.

Due to the success of the recent birthday celebration, Henderson says they have planned future trips to Quattro Goomba's Winery to celebrate all priority list members' birthdays.

Later in the year, members will also enjoy the annual holiday champagne brunch.

"These special outings are our way of letting our priority list members know how much we appreciate them while providing a glimpse into the special events and activities our community members enjoy on a daily basis," says Henderson. "I encourage anyone thinking about a future at Ashby Ponds to schedule a visit to learn more about our many priority list benefits."

Invitations are waiting

In addition to special social events like the wine excursion birthday trips, priority list members also receive invitations to other events, including health and wellness and financial seminars, a home expo, and a family fun day. They also receive first notice of new construction and access to Erickson Realty and Moving Services.

Joining the priority list is simple. Members pay a fully refundable $1,000 deposit and a $150-per-person, nonrefundable application fee. Once this deposit is made, the date is noted as the member's priority list date. Members are encouraged to select a preferred floor plan that, once available, will be offered to them with the right of first refusal based on their joining date.

There is no penalty should the preferred apartment home become available before a prospective resident is ready to move. It is simply offered to the next member on the list, and the priority list status remains the same.

"I signed up for the priority list years before I was ready to move," says Sally Brown, who moved to Ashby Ponds last year. "As a member, I was kept informed as the community developed, and I was invited to numerous events. It was time well spent, and I couldn't be happier with my decision."
