Brooksby Village Dining Services Employee Brings Home the Gold

Peabody, MA -- Kim Bolduc, Brooksby Village’s Catering & Events Coordinator, and the winter color guard she has taught for 6 years, St. Ann’s from Neponset, MA, competed at the 2015 Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. After 3 strong performances, St. Ann’s was crowned the 2015 Independent A Class Gold Medalist.

Hundreds Attend Brooksby Village Gala Celebrating Frank Sinatra and Raise $75,000 for Resident Care Fund

Peabody, MA – Hundreds of people who live at Brooksby Village attended the annual Brooksby Village Gala celebrating the 100 th birthday of Frank Sinatra. More than $75,000 was raised for the Resident Care Fund.

“The Gala is the biggest event of the year and looks forward to this event,” said Kim Whitworth, Philanthropy Manager, Brooksby Village. “This year would have been Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday so the evening was themed after Frank. From an impersonator, to Frank Sinatra signature drinks and the attire, the evening was dedicated to Frank Sinatra.”

90 Yr Old Brooksby Village Resident Dyes Hair Pink for Cancer Research!

Peabody, MA -- When Henrietta Buckner’s friend dared her $100 to dye her hair pink, she didn’t even think twice about it!

The 90 year old Brooksby Village resident and retired nurse marched downstairs to the Hair Salon at Brooksby Village and had her hairdresser, Bernice, dye it pink for her!

Now Henrietta’s friend has mailed her a check for $100 which Henrietta will donate to a cancer research hospital. And she is keeping it pink for a while!

Brooksby Village raised $1800 at Walk To End Alzheimer’s in Andover

Peabody, MA -- People who live and work at Brooksby Village came together to walk in the 2015 Walk To End Alzheimer’s in Andover, MA and raised over $1800.

“This is always a wonderful event and we are thrilled to be a part of it every year to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association,” said Michelle Rowe, Facilities Coordinator, Brooksby Village. “It was a wonderful day.”

Brooksby Village Resident Producing Fine Woodcrafts for 30+ years

Peabody, MA -- For over 30 years Ingrid Jochimsen, who lives at Brooksby Village, has been producing and selling fine woodcrafts in Massachusetts from best materials available. What began as a project for a school fundraiser years ago, has now become a living for Jochimsen.

“I spend many hours at my workshop making all kinds of wooden items,” said Jochimsen. “Wood is a natural product and therefore cannot be reproduced exactly. As a result, each product is a unique work of art.”

Charlestown Centenarians Celebrate 75th Wedding Anniversary

CATONSVILLE, MD (August 18, 2015) -- Centenarians Walter and Lisette Kimmel today celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary at 2 p.m. – the exact date and time when they were married in 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Baltimore. They did so at a party held in their honor at Charlestown retirement community where they now live.

Their celebration included Big Band music, cake and an opportunity to reminisce about the great year of 1940. SugarBakers of Catonsville generously provided a personalized cake for Walter and Lisette to enjoy.

Perez Triplets All Work Together at Brooksby Village

Peabody, MA -- They were all born together so why not all work together! Olivia, Gilberto and Sofia Perez, triplets from Danvers, all work together at Brooksby Village.

"We have friends who work here and they all spoke very highly about Brooksby Village," said Olivia Perez. "I applied first and got the job, shortly after me Gilberto got a job here and then Sofia. Just like the order we were born! I love talking with everyone who lives at Brooksby Village and meeting new people every day. So far it has been an amazing experience."...

Brooksby Village Wraps Holiday Gifts for Operation Troop Support

Peabody, MA -- It was Christmas in July at Brooksby Village!

More than 40 people attended a Holiday Gift Wrapping Party at Brooksby Village for Operation Troop Support (OTS). They also signed holiday cards.

“Brooksby Village does this event with Operation Troop Support every year,” said Fran Gerrior, Community Resources Lead Coordinator. “Residents and OTS volunteers wrap gifts in holiday paper while listing to music. OTS then sends the gifts to troops overseas and to those in hospitals. It’s a wonderful event every year.”

Brooksby Village Hosted The Longest Day, an Alzheimer’s Awareness Event

Peabody, MA -- The residents and staff at Brooksby Village, a continuing care retirement community in Peabody, participated in The Longest Day. Events were held throughout the day beginning at 6 AM and ending at 10 PM.
