45 Local Students Head to College with Scholarships Thanks to Friends at Brooksby Village

Peabody, MA -- An exciting announcement was made at the Brooksby Village Scholarship Awards Ceremony.  Due to the generosity of Brooksby Village residents, the scholarships have increased from $5,000 to $6,000.

Thanks to the over 1700 people who live at Brooksby Village, 45 students from the North Shore will receive the $6,000 Brooksby Village Student Scholarship.

“We have awarded scholarships to over 400 students since the program started in 2002,” said Elizabeth Macomber, philanthropy manager, Brooksby Village.  “The students become eligible for the Brooksby Village Scholarship by completing 1000 hours of work here over a consecutive 2-year period.   The students and the residents build strong bonds of friendship.  They enjoy their conversations, daily interactions and learning from each other.  The scholarship program is a wonderful benefit for students working at Brooksby Village.”

Macomber was also pleased to announce that an endowment fund has been established by a resident who sees the students as the hope of the future.  A 13 year resident of Brooksby, the resident is passionate about education and wanted to leave a lasting legacy in memory of his wife.
