Cedar Crest Residents Participate in Free Group Exercise Day

Cedar Crest, an active continuing care adult community in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, hosted a free Group Exercise Day on February 2. More than 60 residents participated in the fun event that included a variety of fitness classes such as Ageless Grace, Posture and Power, Zumba, Cardio Circuit, Balance, Stretch-n-Tone, and Yoga as well as free blood pressure readings, heart rate readings, healthy refreshments, and raffle prizes.

WWII Letter Returned to Cedar Crest Resident, 70 Years Later

Cedar Crest resident Carolyn DePodwin was surprised when she opened a Fed-Ex package recently and a letter, postmarked July 1945 with a 6-cent Airmail stamp, addressed to her husband Horace fell out. The letter was written by Carolyn 70 years ago to her soon-to-be husband, a soldier serving in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during WWII. Luckily, the Australian couple who found the letter in a used book they purchased online realized how important the historical document was and wanted to return it to its original owner.

Cedar Crest residents Donate Over 100 gifts to Local Shelter

Residents at Cedar Crest, an active retirement community in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, donated over 100 gifts to a local shelter in December. Gifts included toys, games, stuffed animals, shoes, clothing and coats. The drive is organized each year on campus by Cathy Matich, Gloria McCormick and other Cedar Crest residents.

A holiday party was held at the shelter on December 12. At the party, children met Santa, played games, and received candy canes. The presents were delivered secretly to the shelter so the mothers could give the presents to their children on Christmas day. In addition, each mother...

Cedar Crest Residents Donate $242,646 to Staff Appreciation Fund

Residents at Cedar Crest raised $242,646 for the community’s Staff Appreciation Fund. The annual campaign is a way for residents to show their gratitude to non-management hourly employees at the community.

On December 8, Cedar Crest hosted a Staff Appreciation Fund celebration where residents were able to express their gratitude toward employees and help distribute donated funds to each eligible employee. Over 755 hourly staff members received a gift.

A screening of “Seniors in Sinatra’s Backyard,” a short documentary paying tribute to Frank Sinatra on his 100th birthday, featuring residents of Cedar Crest, an active continuing care retirement community in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, will be held on December 11 at 3 p.m. at Woodland Commons Conference Center.

Cedar Crest Residents Craft Over 220 Angels and Snowmen

Residents of Cedar Crest, a retirement community in Pompton Plains, created over 220 Angels and Snowmen to give as holiday gifts to residents in Mountainview Gardens, the continuing care community on campus. The crafters are members of Cedar Crest’s “Compassion and Caring Angels” group.

NOVI, MI (May 11, 2015) -- Allison Leotta, a Michigan native and author of four novels, will visit Fox Run retirement community Sunday, May 17 , at 2 p.m., to talk, read and sign copies of her book A Good Killing.
