POMPTON PLAINS, NJ - Mountainview Gardens, the continuing care community of Cedar Crest, received a 5-Star Rating from U.S. News & World Report for 2014 and also voted a "Best Nursing Home" in the New Jersey by the national publication. Each year the state of New Jersey inspects nursing facilities and rates them based on various categories which are reported federally to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. POMPTON PLAINS, NJ - Residents of Cedar Crest had a special treat when Irish Eyes Smiled on 'em as the Hawthorne School of Dance's Irish Dance Team performed at the community. The Irish Dance Team consists of 14 members ranging in age from 10-21. Most of the dancers have been taking Irish dance for four or more years and study both soft and hard shoe. Soft shoe dancing requires dancers to be very light and graceful lots of skipping, jumping, and spinning while hard shoe is loud and percussive. POMPTON PLAINS, NJ - In an effort to raise money for the Cedar Crest Resident Care Fund, the community held an evening of comedy earlier this week in the Belmont Clubhouse Performance Arts Center. The Resident Care Fund provides future financial support for residents who may find that they have exhausted their financial resources due to unforeseen circumstances such as long-term illness. Performing was renowned comedian Billy Garan, who has opened for comics such as Robert Klein, Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld.
