Charlestown Wins Tennis Tournament in Silver Spring, MD

CATONSVILLE, MD (September 22, 2014) -- The Charlestown Tennis Team competed in Riderwood's annual tennis tournament in Silver Spring, MD, on Wednesday, September 17, and it came home with a clean sweep of 1st place wins in Men's, Women's and Mixed Doubles.

Charlestown's Terrace Cafe Wins EFA's Best in Category Design Award

CATONSVILLE, MD (September 11, 2014) -- Environments for Aging has named Charlestown retirement community's Terrace Café as its Best in Category award winner for the 6th annual Remodel/Renovation Competition , which this year focused on resident amenity projects.

All submissions were reviewed and evaluated by industry experts appointed by SAGE, The Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments , who narrowed the list down to 10 projects that were then opened for reader voting online.

Charlestown Chefs Sweep Maryland Seafood Festival Awards

CATONSVILLE, MD (September 8, 2014) -- The Culinary Division (CDC) of Charlestown retirement community's Dining Services Team captured an unprecedented three awards in the 47th Annual Maryland Seafood Festival's Crab Soup Cook-Off held Saturday, September 5, at Sandy Point in Annapolis.

The Charlestown team not only brought home a top three award, but its placed in all three judges choice awards. And for the first time it also received a People's Choice Award for an entry in the "Alternative Crab Soup" category.

Charlestown to Construct New Continuing Care Buildings

CATONSVILE, MD (September 8, 2014) - Charlestown retirement community has received approval from Baltimore County to raze four outdated buildings that serve as residences on its campus and replace them with two updated buildings along with a parking lot expansion.

The construction will cost $70 million, with the first of the two development phases to cost approximately $40 million.

The new buildings will provide 87 short-term rehabilitation and long term care units, 114 assisted living plus memory care units and 96 assisted living units to a total of 321 residents, according to the development plan. The 297 units...

CATONSVILLE, MD  (August 26, 2014) - Residents and staff of Charlestown retirement community will participate September 1 - 30 in a "Walk Across America" fitness project in which they will keep track of the time -- and distances --  they walk.
