WHAT: A Thursday, December 12, holiday exhibit of 100 "vintage" wooden toys -- several pull toys of trains, fish that wiggle when pulled, simple wood puzzles, piggy banks, shape fit toys, stack block type toys, wood road graders, old time cars and pick-ups, and cradles with hand sewn dolls - made by Charlestown retirement community's woodworkers. Immediately following this exhibit, the vintage toys will be given to underprivileged children via the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots. Charlestown to Hold November 25 'Turkey Trot' Fundraiser

CATONSVILLE, MD (October 14, 2013) --- Charlestown retirement community will hold a Monday, November 25, 'Turkey Trot' fundraiser on its 110-acre campus in Catonsville, MD, to benefit Southwest Emergency Services and the Marian House. The walk will begin at 10 a.m., with residents and staff doing a Short Walk (15 minutes) and/or a Long Walk (30 minutes) along Charlestown's loop road. The event will include: o          "Gobble" Contest  -- a prize awarded to the best gobbler. o          Contest to guess the identity of the Charlestown "Turkey" - a prize awarded to winner. Hundreds of Charlestown residents and staff are expected to participate.

Charlestown Physical Therapist Heidi Smith Raises $2,700 for Wounded Warriors

CATONSVILLE, MD (October 2, 2013) -- Heidi Smith, MSPT, a physical therapist for Charlestown retirement community, raised more than  $2,700 for the Scott Rigsby Foundation and Wounded Warriors by competing this past weekend  in the intermedix IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta Half Ironman triathlon presented by Georgia National Guard. Smith did the 1.5-mile swim in 33:38 and was 738 out of 1,198 women.  She did the 56-mile bicycle part of the event  in 2:53:47 and was 253 out of 1,198 women.  And her 13.1-mile run in 2:34:38 was 444 out of 1,198 women.  Her overall time was 6:16:04.
