CATONSVILLE, MD (March 16, 2016) -- James Mauser, a Senior Vice President in RCM&D's healthcare practice group, has been appointed to the independent Board of Directors that governs Charlestown retirement community on behalf of the best interests of residents.
Since joining RCM&D in 1999, Mauser has worked with a variety of healthcare organizations including senior living communities, hospitals and physician groups. In his role, he manages the development of property and casualty, risk management and employee benefit solutions for the healthcare industry.
While leading the firm's senior living group, he was instrumental in forming a specialized risk retention group for long term care communities in Maryland. This successful program enables providers to obtain professional liability coverage at a reduced cost while taking part in the underwriting profit generated by the group. He is also responsible for the growth of a similar program providing workers' compensation coverage.
Prior to joining RCM&D, he held various positions in claims and risk management, most recently with a Fortune 500 manufacturer. Additionally, he served as an adjunct professor for several years at Loyola University in Baltimore where he developed and taught an undergraduate course in insurance and risk management.
Mauser is a graduate of James Madison University where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He also earned a masters degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore. He is a licensed insurance broker and advisor.
He has attended several senior living management sessions provided by the Erickson School for the Aging at UMBC, including Operations Management and Financial Underwriting.
Mauser is a board member of the Beacon Institute, the Maryland leader in education for senior care and service providers.
