400 Charlestown Resident Volunteers Get "Pinned" and Thanked

CATONSVILLE, MD (October 29, 2015) – More than 400 Charlestown retirement community resident volunteers this week got "pinned" as a way of being thanked for their year-round service. They will be honored at a luncheon in November.

Residents serve internally on projects/committees and also at many neighborhood-based organizations, including the following:

  • Our Daily Bread
  • Catonsville Library
  • Our Lady of the Angels Chapel
  • Lansdowne Elementary School
  • Riverview Elementary School
  • Westside Men’s Shelter
  • Arbutus Senior Center
  • Local Churches

“Retirees enjoy volunteering to stay active and maintain a sense of purpose,” said Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Chrzanowski.

“Many of our residents were busy with their careers and raising their families, and did not have the time to volunteer before they came to Charlestown.

“Now that they have more time, they find ways to give back to their community, both here at Charlestown and in the greater Catonsville area.”
