Blessing of Pets to be Held October 4 at Charlestown

CATONSVILLE, MD (September 10, 2016) -- Charlestown retirement community residents will gather in front of Our Lady of the Angels Chapel on Tuesday, October 4, at Noon, for a Blessing of the Pets and Dedication of a new St. Francis of Assisi statue honoring this patron saint of animals. Father Leo Larrivee will officiate.

There are more than 150 pets who live with their owners at Charlestown. There are dogs and cats, birds and fish, and even a bunny. The residents will celebrate the well-being of their pets and pet lovers everywhere.

The pets will participate in a parade on Fountain Court next to the Chapel. There will be contests and other surprises during a short festive program emceed by Roy Baum, who hosts a popular pet show that airs on Charlestown's closed-circuit Channel 972.

Refreshments will be served.

This event is being held under the auspices of the Pet Lovers of Charlestown.
