Charlestown's Betty Boop Bead Club Donates Children's Clothing to Riverview Elementary School

CATONSVILLE, MD (January 23, 2017) – Charlestown retirement community residents who are members of the Betty Boop Bead Club this week visited Riverview Elementary School in Lansdowne to present clothing for children that the club purchased through their Craft Fair money and other money that resulted from jewelry sales.

The club donated $237 worth of children’s clothing. The clothing will be used by school nurse Mary Montoro, R.N., when children in the school may need warmer clothing, or need a clothing change due to heath concerns.

The Betty Boop Bead Club is an informal group that meets monthly to make creative jewelry to wear and share.

Riverview Elementary School is a comprehensive, community school with nearly 600 students, grades Pre-K through Five. Its high expectations for academic performance and behavior, coupled with differentiated, high quality, data driven instruction, prepares students to be this country's leaders and problem solvers of the future.

The school is technology rich, with SMART Boards in every classroom, two computer laboratories, two mobile computer labs, a television studio, and a host of individual technology tools.
