CATONSVILLE, MD -- Charlestown's Denis Holden, a former technical writer and proposal manager for Northrop Grumman, has published "Dirty Rotten Boomers!" a novel of friendship, romance and Rock and Roll at a retirement community. The plot of the book, written under his pen name Jack Holden, follows:Scott Fairweather, a protagonist through which the author admits to living vicariously, resides at the St. Clements Retirement Community, a large community of people enjoying retirement and the fruits of their labors. Scott finds the place holds more than he ever dreamed possible.
He forges new, interesting friendships and re-establishes some old relationships, including his high-school sweetheart. When Scott and his friend, Turk, learn two world-class Blues musicians are living in the community, they decide to form a Rock and Roll band.
Unfortunately for the band, it isn't all plain sailing, especially because of the harridan, Mrs. Carruthers, who takes a dim view of their music.
Scott finds hilarity and romance. Best of all, he finds love and contentment.Holden was born in Blackpool, England. He is a self-taught guitarist who grew up following the Beatles in neighboring Liverpool. He holds a B.A. Degree in Humanities from Open University in Keyens, England.
Holden, who is a proud American citizen, participates in Charlestown's Writers Critique Group. He organized last year's Writers Festival, which celebrated the works of 33 Charlestown writers. In addition, he hosts "Expressions," a talk show on the community's closed-circuit TV Channel 972 that explores human interest stories and the creative process.
He his wife, Diana, a former teacher of humanities in Spain, have been married 22 years.
