Visitor Requirements

For those independent living neighborhoods open for visits with family and friends, the following requirements are in place. Please check to make sure that your community is open to visitors prior to coming to campus. You may locate your community at

  • All visitors must answer COVID-19 screening questions before gaining entry to the community.
  • Visitors who have traveled internationally, on a cruise ship, or outside the contiguous United States will not be permitted to enter the community.
  • Any state-specific travel restrictions should also be considered before you make the decision to visit.
  • Visitors are required to follow all directional signage, practice safe social distancing, and wear a face mask as they move through public areas of the community.
  • Visits must take place within the resident's apartment home or outdoors.

There are additional requirements for those visiting our continuing care neighborhoods. We are protecting our most vulnerable residents as follows:

  • Only compassionate care visits are currently permitted, in adherence with specific state and local health guidelines.
  • All staff members are screened for COVID-19 symptoms. This includes a temperature check.
  • All essential visitors are required to undergo a temperature check before entering, and wear a surgical mask while in continuing care to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Essential visitors must limit the surfaces they touch and use good hand hygiene to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Essential visitors are asked to refrain from any physical contact with residents and staff members.
  • Dining services have been modified so that residents can safely enjoy their meals in their private residence. Monitoring is in place for those residents that require assistance with dining.
  • Programming is being expanded so that activities and engagement occur in limited areas outside the resident's personal living space.

Continuing care visitors are also required to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms every day for 14 days after their visit and are instructed to contact the community’s administration immediately if they develop flu-like symptoms, a fever, or cough.
