Eagle’s Trace Director Earns National Leadership Award

Houston, Texas—Michael Friedel, the Director of Continuing Care for Eagle’s Trace retirement community, received the 2015 Erickson Living Leadership Award.

The recognition is given to a manager or director with Erickson Living who continually demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities and inspires, motivates and empowers his or her team members to commit to excellence in serving residents.

The award was presented in Baltimore on February 21 during the annual meeting of Erickson Living, the manager and developer of Eagle’s Trace.  Friedel was one of 22 nominees nationwide.

Friedel joined Eagle's Trace in October 2014.  He began his Erickson Living career in 2011 at Oak Crest, a sister community in Baltimore, Maryland, where he first served as Assisted Living Manager and was later promoted to Director of Continuing Care.

Stephen Aigner is the Executive Director of Eagle’s Trace.  He noted that Friedel strikes the right balance in the clinical duties, team-building and relational aspects of his leadership position.

“As Director of Continuing Care, Michael ensures that residents are receiving quality healthcare in a respectful and caring manner,” stated Aigner.  “Additionally, he forms countless warm relationships with family members and employees.”

“In preparing Michael’s  nomination, we found no shortage of folks who wanted to sing his praises,” said Aigner.  “We are fortunate because Michael is a very humble servant leader.

He always has a kind word for a resident or employee and never hesitates to roll up his sleeves to help a team member.  His positive impact shows in our resident satisfaction results.”

Previously, Friedel served as a Nursing Home Administrator in Pennsylvania and as executive director of an assisted living facility in Delaware.  He is currently licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator in Texas, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
