Fox Run Residents are Ford Tough

NOVI, MI -- Fox Run retirement community is home to dozens of people who spent their careers at Ford. Howard Freers is one of those people.

After graduating from a small engineering school in Indiana in 1948, Howard went on to build a career in the auto industry. He worked for Ford as a chief engineer for 22 years and retired in 1988.

When he moved to Fox Run, he was interested in connecting with the other Ford retirees who lived there. He decided to start a Ford group.

Cary Ormond, a Former School Librarian, Wins Fox Run Spelling Bee

NOVI, MI -- Twelve residents and eight staff members of Fox Run retirement community competed March 26 in a two-hour Spelling Bee involving six elimination rounds.

Resident Cary Ormond, a former school librarian, won with a correct spelling of ‘Salubrious.’ Business Analyst Anne Martella took second place.

Ormond and Martella received gift baskets filled with bee-inspired items as prizes.


WWII Veteran Uses Social Media to Invite President Obama to Fox Run

NOVI, MI (March 30, 2015) -- WWII veteran Wilfrid “Robi” Robinson, U.S. Army, 99th Infantry Division, is using social media to invite President Obama to Fox Run retirement community’s upcoming November 11, 2015 Veterans Day ceremony.

Robinson, who was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and who received the Purple Heart, has posted a You Tube video ( ) in which he tells President Obama of the hundreds of WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans who live with him at Fox Run.

NOVI, MI (March 4, 2015) – New Novi City Councilwoman Doreen Poupard is no stranger to being involved in her community. She spent her career working for the Ann Arbor Public School System, where she served as assistant superintendent from 1985–1999. Now retired, Doreen serves on the Novi City Council for Novi, MI.

NOVI, MI (December 11, 2014) – Fox Run resident Arnetta Whitehouse, a writer, first got involved with the Unity in the Community group when she joined her neighbors to put pins noting their countries of ancestry on a large world map in the retirement community’s clubhouse. She proudly placed her pin on Germany.

Marilyn Schueneman Puts Her Theology Degree to Good Use at Fox Run Retirement Community in Novi, MI

NOVI, MI (January 6, 2014) -- For Marilyn Schueneman, retirement has hardly been a time for slowing down. After ending a long career in education and government, at the age of 64, Marilyn decided to fulfill one of her lifelong passions by earning a master’s degree in theology. As a preacher’s daughter, Marilyn had long been interested in religion.

“I just thought, I love to read and study this stuff, so I am going to go to seminary,” Marilyn recalls of her bold decision to return to school later in life.


Tia Maria is "One Hot Dog" at Fox Run

NOVI, MI (October 7, 2014) -- Tia Maria is the "One Hot Dog" winner of Fox Run retirement community's Strut Your Mutt dog show.

She is a 10-year-old Dautshund who has been with her owner, Eva Barnes, ever since she was a six-month-old puppy. Tia Maria is said to be "a friendly and loving dog."

Tia Maria was one of 25 dogs -- Maltase, Poodles and Terriers included -- who participated in the dog show held September 27 on Fox Run's campus in Novi.  The dogs are pets of Fox Run residents and staff.
