More Than 200 Residents and Staff Participate in Fox Run's Month-Long Walking Challenge

NOVI, MI ( October 6, 2016) --  More than 200 residents and staff participated in Fox Run retirement community’s month-long Walking Challenge, an annual fitness event that is a building and departmental competition based as a percentage of current resident occupancy or employment rates.

This year’s theme, “The Golden Age of Hollywood,” featured a course lined with stars from the “Walk of Fame” with familiar names of past Hollywood legends. There were Academy Award-esque Oscar statues flagging each of the stations with streamers coming down.

Residents and staff were asked trivia questions from films of yesteryear, were asked to “Name that Tune” from musicals and movie theme songs. They were also asked to make familiar movements from early soundstage movies.

A red carpet at the end of the course led to healthy refreshments, and everyone was encouraged to go around the course as many times as they liked to include all of the minutes walked in their grand total for the month.

The September event culminated with a modified Color Run/Walk with three stations relating to the whole of Wellness: mind, body and spirit.

This year the event had to be moved inside for the first time in its four-year history due to inclement Michigan weather. Even though the wind was blowing outside with heavy downpours of rain, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of participants.
