Greenspring Residents to Perform with Local Students in Kid Pan Alley's "Across the Ages" Songwriting Residency

Six residents from Greenspring will work with 3rd and 5th graders from Forestdale Elementary for upcoming November 4th performances (SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA) -  Kid Pan Alley 's intergenerational residency entitled "Across the Ages" will feature students from Forestdale Elementary School and seniors from  Greenspring retirement community.  The two groups will collaborate leading up to two November 4 performances, where stories told by both the students and the seniors will be translated into song for the public. On Tuesday, October 4, the resident Democratic and Republican Clubs of Greenspring hosted a candidate forum with state senate candidates for Virginia's 39th district.  The forum included incumbent  Senator George Barker  and his challenger  Miller Baker , and was moderated by veteran journalist,  Bruce DePuyt , producer and host of "NewsTalk" on NewsChannel 8. Permanent Charter of the American Legion is Established at Greenspring

SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA - Fittingly, just days after Patriot Day and National POW/MIA Recognition Day, Greenspring Post 123 was named a permanent charter of the American Legion in a ceremony on September 20.  Greenspring received a provisional charter last year when resident Curtis Ross recruited 15 members of the community to join the Post.  Today, Greenspring Post 123 has 44 members and hopes to continue adding members to the American Legion, the largest veteran's service organization in the nation.
