Benevolent Care Fund Gala at Greenspring retirement community in Springfield, Va. on Friday, September 30. "The Gala is the biggest charity event each year at Greenspring," said Greenspring's Director of Philanthropy, Kimberly Nelson.  "It's always a wonderful night full of entertainment, food, and friends." On Tuesday, October 4, the resident Democratic and Republican Clubs of Greenspring hosted a candidate forum with state senate candidates for Virginia's 39th district.  The forum included incumbent  Senator George Barker  and his challenger  Miller Baker , and was moderated by veteran journalist,  Bruce DePuyt , producer and host of "NewsTalk" on NewsChannel 8. Permanent Charter of the American Legion is Established at Greenspring

SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA - Fittingly, just days after Patriot Day and National POW/MIA Recognition Day, Greenspring Post 123 was named a permanent charter of the American Legion in a ceremony on September 20.  Greenspring received a provisional charter last year when resident Curtis Ross recruited 15 members of the community to join the Post.  Today, Greenspring Post 123 has 44 members and hopes to continue adding members to the American Legion, the largest veteran's service organization in the nation. Greenspring retirement community will host the NVSO competition on Tuesday, September 20 and Wednesday, September 21 SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA - Greenspring retirement community in Springfield, Va. will host the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics Wii bowling competition for the third consecutive year.  Participants ages 50-79 will compete starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 20 and participants 80 and over will compete starting at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 21.
