Greenspring’s Culinary Chefs Share Hands-On Experience with Students at GMU

(Springfield, Va.) - On Tuesday, November 18, three of Greenspring’s chefs shared a presentation and provided a culinary demo for students at George Mason University. The topic for the class in the course, “Nutrition Throughout the Lifecycle,” focused on reviewing proper nutrition for seniors. The Greenspring chefs provided an overview of how Greenspring determines and rotates menus for the residents of the community and described the community’s culinary health resource, the My Nutrition program.

(Springfield, Va.) - The Virginia Health Quality Center (VHQC) presented Greenspring's Continuing Care neighborhood with a "Gold Leaf" recognition.  The community received this recognition for its dedication to improving healthcare outcomes and resident satisfaction through its support of the National Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative and the Virginia Nursing Home Quality Care Learning Network.  To be considered for this recognition, care neighborhoods were required to set quality improvement goals, collect and measure data, demonstrate improvement, and complete the QAPI Self-Assessment provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Greenspring Packs 250 Bags for Back-to-School Event

(Springfield, Va.) - During the week of August 11, the Human Resources department at Greenspring retirement community hosted a "Back-to-School" event.  Residents and staff members came together to assemble and distribute bags of school supplies to Greenspring employees with children or grandchildren in Kindergarten through 8 th grades.  Just in time for the next school year, the community distributed 250 bags full of school supplies to staff members.

Traveling Around the World in One Day: Greenspring Focuses on Culture and Heritage with Diversity Expo

(Springfield, Va.) - On Thursday, July 31, Greenspring hosted the 4 th Annual Diversity Expo at the Springfield, Va. retirement community.  The event, spearheaded by the community's Diversity and Inclusion Committee, provided for an eclectic cultural experience with international foods, clothing, food, music and dance.  Well over 600 residents and staff visited the event throughout the day, which provided delight for all the senses!
