Greenspring Residents Honor Everyday Heroes

January 3, 2020

More than $295,000 contributed to annual Staff Appreciation Fund

Springfield, Va. – January 3, 2020 – Residents at Greenspring, a senior living community developed and managed by Erickson Living, recently made the holiday season a bit brighter for the community's staff, by contributing $296,156 to the Staff Appreciation Fund.

The annual campaign is organized each year as a way for residents to say "thank you" to hourly employees who provide a variety of resident services throughout the community. This year's campaign theme was "Honoring our Everyday Superheroes: The Hourly Staff".

At a special distribution event held on December 11, 2019, residents had the opportunity to express their appreciation directly to these employees and helped distribute the contributed funds to each eligible member of the staff. At Greenspring, eligible employees may include the community's wait staff, dining associates, security officers, communication and administrative staff, banquet servers, maintenance workers, culinary team members, housekeepers, Certified Medical Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. A total of 960 employees received a distribution from the Staff Appreciation Fund this year.

"A successful campaign is a team effort, and we had a great team this year! Special thanks goes to Mary Sue Garner, Resident Life Committee Chair and the rest of the committee, for all of their help," said Janelle Cesari, Community Resources Coordinator at Greenspring. "Of course, our sincerest thank you goes to the more than 870 residents who contributed during the campaign and beyond. Because of their generosity, we reached our goal."
