2018 Student Scholars’ Awards a “Win-Win” at Highland Springs

Dallas, Texas— Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community, awarded eight students employed in its Dining Services Department with collegiate scholarships during a luncheon ceremony held on June 9.

The value of these awards is $1,250 per semester for a four-year total of up to $10,000 paid directly to their accredited higher education institution.

A fundraising drive in May generated more than $33,000 for the program, mainly from contributions by residents. To be eligible, students must work at least 1,000 hours at Highland Springs during a two-year period and be in good employment and academic standing. They...

Dallas, Texas— For Bill and Margaret Bogle, the 300-mile journey to Highland Springs was inspired by family.

“We were living in Little Rock, Arkansas, but wanted to be closer to our daughter in Dallas,” described Mrs. Bogle. “During our visits to see her, we toured some other senior living communities but nothing clicked until we found Highland Springs.”

By July, 2011, they had joined the community’s priority list, but a health issue faced by their daughter forced the Bogles to expedite the process.

Dallas, Texas— School is almost out for the summer, meaning vacations, sleeping late and being outdoors. In August, though, Linda Matzen will be back to work at Brentfield Elementary School in Richardson, Texas.

As the administrative assistant for student services, Ms. Matzen is the first person visitors typically see when they walk into the school.

Dallas, Texas— Due to the demand for its unique residences and services, Highland Springs is growing once again with the opening of a second community clubhouse.

Named after the beautiful line of trees that adorn its entrance, Magnolia Place is another hub of socialization for residents, their family members and guests of the Erickson Living retirement community. The clubhouse features a grand living room, library and classroom for activities.

Team Highland Springs Gives Back to Plano Community

Dallas, Texas-- The employees of Highland Springs continued their tradition of giving back to the greater community during a recent service project.

On February 8, a group of 18 staff members volunteered their time and talent at Minnie’s Food Pantry , a non-profit, 501 (c-3) organization that assists people in need in Plano and beyond.
