Dallas, Texas— A North Dallas man who helped people capture memories for nearly four decades recently made a few himself. Albert Binko, a U.S. Army veteran from World War II and retired photography lab owner, participated in an Honor Flight DFW trip to the national war memorials in Washington, DC last month. Mr. Binko served as a scout in the 63rd Infantry Division from 1944-46. Dallas, TX— By the numbers, a charitable project performed by residents of Highland Springs retirement community was a tremendous success. 165 volunteers worked in 30-minute shifts on August 24. They measured ingredients, sealed packages and boxed highly nutritious, life-saving meals to support the worldwide humanitarian relief organization, Kids Against Hunger. The team created 17,928 meals immediately ready for shipment to children nearly 1,400 miles away in Honduras, according to Pastor Jamie Bruning. Recently, though, she assisted another generation as an Adult Leader at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America’s (ELCA) National Youth Gathering. The triennial event occurred in Detroit, Michigan, where 30,000 people congregated July 15-19 to volunteer and engage in fellowship.
